| JOIN MY TEAM! OR SHOW YOUR SUPPORT BY MAKING A DONATION AS I WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S!
| I am determined to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. By participating in the 2009 Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® in Bowling Green, KY on Sept. 19, 2009, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support.
Currently more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's, and 78 million baby boomers are at risk – unless we find a way to change the course of the disease.
My paternal grandfather suffered from Alzheimer's disease for a great deal of my childhood. I remember very few "good" times with Granddad because, sadly, I was too young to remember much before the disease took over. Granddad succumbed to the disease and went Home to The Lord on my 12th birthday.
Now, nearly 20 years later, my precious father is in at least the middle stages of Alzheimer's. My daddy was once a vibrant, sharp, Mr. Fix It. There wasn't anything he couldn't do, build or fix, and he enjoyed every minute of it! Now he gets very little joy out of anything. He knows his mind is going and he's ashamed, depressed and afraid. He no longer undertakes any projects for fear of embarrassment from not being able to remember how to do it. The very unfortunate part is, after seeing my grandfather go through it, we all know that this is just the beginning, and sadly, so does my daddy.
It's too late for my grandfather, and possibly even for my father, but IT IS NOT too late my brother and I, our children, grandchildren, and so on!! IT IS NOT too late for the millions of American's affected by Alzheimer's and their descendants!!
LET'S STOP ALZHEIMER'S IN ITS TRACKS!!
I want to do my part to fight this disease, but I need to ask for your support! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
On behalf of the millions of Americans who are living with this disease, and those who love them, thank you for supporting my efforts. We're on the MOVE to end Alzheimer’s!
